Returns and Exchanges

You must enter your 'Bill To' address for your shipping to be calculated.  Once you have entered your address, you will be able to select your shipping method from the available options.

At the Fabric Letter Company, we believe in an honest pricing structure for shipping, and our postage costs are a true reflection of the cost to us.   Shipping prices are calculated by weight. 

We aim to dispatch all orders within 7-10 working days of receiving payment.  During unusually busy periods we will occasionally exceed this, and a banner will be displayed on our website giving updated lead times.

Shipping is automatically calculated during the checkout process for the most popular shipping destinations including Ireland, USA, Australia & Canada, and if you would like a shipping quotation before you purchase, please contact us.

All of our orders are packaged carefully to ensure they reach you in perfect condition.  In order to recycle our foam off cuts, these are sometimes used in the packaging of our letter orders.

  Q How long will my order take?

Orders are made to your requirements and dispatched within 7-10 days.

Urgent orders can sometimes be accommodated, but these must be agreed before purchase to ensure we have sufficient working time in our schedule.  All urgent orders will also need to have selected the courier option at checkout to ensure a speedy delivery once we have dispatched.

Once dispatched, please allow 3-5 days for Hermes deliveries, you will receive an email from Hermes, with tracking information so you can follow its progress.  UK Mail deliveries are next working day after dispatch.

For European and International deliveries, please allow between 5-10 days for delivery after your order has dispatched.

 Q I am having problems paying through Paypal

Payment problems usually arise when the billing name and address that you give us do not match the billing name and address on your credit card or Paypal account. If you are having problems please check the billing information. To do this, make sure that you are logged into your account then go to Billing Information. You can also find this by clicking on the 'Account Maintenance' link, and clicking on account information.

If you are using someone else's credit card (with their permission of course!), please make sure that the billing information matches their details. You will be able to set up a separate shipping name and address during the checkout process, which you can use to give your own details.

Sometimes customers get a message from Paypal saying "PayPal does not allow your country of residence to ship to the country you wish to" when they try to make a payment.

This seems to be because the country information with which you signed up to your account with us is not the same as that with which you registered your Paypal account, you need to make sure that these are the same. If you they are different, you can edit this by logging into this site, clicking on 'account maintenance' (above the logout button), and then 'account information'. You can edit your country from there. Then save your information, and then place your order again.

  Q I don't have a PayPal account. Can I still purchase Fabric Letter Company products?

YES, You do not need a PayPal account to use our shopping cart.  When you get to the PayPal log in screen, select the 'Pay with a debit or credit card' option which is shown below the Paypal login boxes.

Order Process

  Q What do the order status stages mean?

'Unpaid'

No payment was received for your order. If you wish to pay via personal cheque please let us know as this status will be updated when the payment has cleared.

'Cancelled'

Your order has been cancelled either by your request, no alternative payment method has been agreed or we have not received payment via the PayPal payment system within 3 days of order placement. Please contact us if you wish to re-open a cancelled order.

'Refunded'

You have request a cancellation of your order and funds have been reversed.

'Confirmed'

Your order has been placed and we have received cleared funds.

'Materials Allocated'

The materials for your order have been allocated and are being prepared for manufacture.

'Production'

Your order is currently being made in our workshop.

'Packing'

Your order is complete and is being prepared for shipping.

'Shipped'

Your order has left our premises and is now with our shipping partner.

You can check the status of your order at any time by simply logging to your account and select 'Account Maintenance' then click 'View' under the Order information title.

Fabric letters

   Q Can letters be hung above my child's bed or cot?

We recommend that Letters are placed well out of the reach of children.  Our letters have a saw-tooth mounting hook pre-attached although if letters are placed where they may be knocked, or reached, we recommend the fitting of screw in fixings that can be more securely attached to the wall.

Q I've seen other fabric letters on the high street , what makes these ones different?

at the Fabric Letter Company you get to choose the fabric you want for each one of your letters, you are not just limited to the one single fabric that is on offer in the high street shop for a given letter of the alphabet. You also have the option to have your letters embellished with flowers or buttons at no extra cost.

  Q So what are your letters made of?

Typically, most fabric letters are simply strips of fabric glued on to a paper mache or cardboard shape. Here, letters are made by sewing a 3 Dimensional 'outer skin' which is then upholstered over a precision cut 2" memory foam shape leaving the letter soft to the touch, light in weight and highly compressible. The letters shape is then controlled by backing the foam and fabric onto a hardboard back which is then fabric covered and stapled. This method of construction ensures the letter will last a lifetime and not simply fall apart if it gets damp.

  Q I've seen other fabric letters discolour or stained over time where the glue has aged, will this happen with our letters from the Fabric Letter  Company?

No, since our letters are sewn together and upholstered there is no need for gluing we just use good old fashion upholstery staples.

  Q Can I choose where the embellishments are positioned on my letters?

Yes you can, if you have a particular preference, just e-mail your requirements and they will be added to your order details.

  Q Can I choose which embellishments I prefer, shape colour etc?

Providing the embellishments are in the current range then there is no reason why you can not have your preferred choice.

  Q I would like some Lovely Letters but can't find a fabric to match my child's bedroom.

If you have your own fabric available, and it is a good quality cotton, the kind you would use for curtains or cushions, we are able to turn this into bespoke Lovely Letters for you.  Simply email us with your requirement and we can provide further advice and information.

Caring for you letters

   Q How should I maintain the letters?

We recommend that the letters are removed from the wall periodically hovered with a vacuum cleaner and bristle attachment. The letters can not be washed in a washing machine as doing so would damage the wooden backing.

  Q How can I clean the letters ?

Letters can't be machine washed, although careful spot cleaning may be carried out.

Order Cancellations

For most items, you have the legal right to cancel your order within 7 working days of receiving the goods. However, this does not apply to certain items, which we have made, personalised or customised specifically for you.

Order cancellations must be made in writing, quoting your order number, within 7 working days beginning the day after the day on which the item is delivered.

Please note: In order to provide a fast service some products are immediately sent for production. Please check your order on screen and the confirmation email carefully as we cannot refund products, which have been miss-spelt.

We reserve the right to cancel your order at any time and issue a full refund.

The provisions of this clause do not affect your statutory rights.

Returns and exchange

If you are not completely satisfied with the goods, simply return them to us at any time within 14 days of receipt. We will issue a full refund or exchange as soon as possible after you cancel your order. The costs of returning goods to us shall be borne by you.

The item is your responsibility until it reaches us. For your own protection, we recommend that you send the parcel back to using a delivery service that insures you for the value of the goods, as we cannot be held responsible for items damaged or lost in the post.

Your rights to return the goods to us will not apply in the following circumstances:

  • Any products that we have made, personalised or customised specifically for you
  • Where, in our opinion, you have not taken reasonable care of goods whilst in your possession and have not been returned with the original packaging.
  • If you have made a spelling mistake on your order and it has been sent for production.

If you return an item because of an error on our part, or because it is defective, we will happily refund the full value of the item and your costs in returning it to us.

The item(s) must be returned in the condition in which you received it within 30 days of delivery. By the very individual nature of personalised products, they cannot be re-sold, and therefore we cannot accept returns if you have a change of mind

We regret that postage and packing costs for unwanted items cannot be refunded. Even if you have qualified for free delivery when placing your order, a postage and packing charge of £1.25 per item will be levied on unwanted items and deducted from any refund given.

Please note:

  • You have a duty to return the item to us and the cost of doing so is your responsibility, except if the item is faulty or does not comply with the contract.
  • The parcel can take up to 7 working days to be returned to us, unless sent via special delivery.

Whilst every effort is made to display the fabrics accurately,  colours can appear differently depending on your monitor settings.  If an exact colour match is required, please contact us for a fabric sample before ordering.
